Streamlabs

Tool · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.

Overview

Streamlabs is a tool for live broadcasts. The self-description on the homepage: "The most popular streaming platform for Twitch, YouTube and Facebook. Cloud-based and used by 70% of Twitch. Grow with Streamlabs Desktop, alerts, 1000+ overlays, analytics, chatbot, tipping, merch and more".

Both numbers in this phrase belong to Streamlabs. "70% of Twitch" and "1000+ overlays" are the tool's own claims about itself, not independent measurements. The formulation "the most popular platform" we likewise give as a quotation, not as a fact.

The composition of the capabilities from the self-description makes it clear how the tool differs from a post scheduler: a program for broadcasts, alerts, screen design, a chatbot, analytics, tips and merch. The work goes on around the live broadcast, not around the feed.

The interface language of the homepage is en. There is a machine-readable index llms.txt on the site, and the size of the file on the date of the check is 8,402 characters; that is our own measurement, not a claim by the tool.

Which platforms it works with

There are two different lists here, and confusing them is costly: where the video goes is one thing, where you see the chat is another.

Where it broadcasts to

The answer to the question "What platforms can I multistream to with Streamlabs?" on the multistream page names: Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, Kick, Facebook, Instagram, Patreon, X (Twitter) and additional platforms through your own connection over RTMP. The last is important: the list is not closed, a platform can be added by hand.

And right there is a discrepancy within one page: in the text higher up on it the same list is given, but without Instagram. Both records were taken on the same day from the same address; which of them is the more accurate the source does not explain.

Where the chat is visible

The answer to the question "What platforms does Multistream chat support?" on the same page separates the platforms by the depth of support. Reading and replying are possible in YouTube, Twitch and on Facebook pages. Reading only — in Kick, X (Twitter) and in personal Facebook profiles.

That is, the tool undertakes to broadcast to TikTok, Instagram and Patreon, while the chat of these platforms is not announced in Multichat either for reading or for replying.

Pricing

One name of a paid subscription is known — Streamlabs Ultra — and it is known that it comes in monthly and annual form: both forms are listed in the terms of the affiliate programme, where a different commission is assigned to each. How much the subscription costs and what is included in it, the source does not report.

How you earn with it

The affiliate programme

The Streamlabs Ultra Affiliate Program, with the accounting and the payouts going through the Impact network (the description of the programme). Joining is through the page streamlabs.com/affiliates, which is returned empty and is assembled by a script.

The commission is fixed, not a percentage: 10 USD for each monthly Streamlabs Ultra subscription and 20 USD for an annual one. The payout is one-off for each purchase; the programme announces no recurring accruals. Trial periods without payment, refunds and chargebacks are not paid.

The attribution window is twenty-four hours: purchases are credited within 24 hours of the click on the link (the tool's help centre). That is noticeably shorter than at most of the programmes in the catalogue, where the count runs to tens of days.

There is no obligatory payout threshold — the partner sets it himself in the Impact account. The timings are these: the accrual is fixed on the 10th of the following month, and the payment goes through 45 days later. The methods of payout are bank transfer (EFT) or PayPal; the Bank Account and Tax Documents sections must be filled in in the account.

To take part you need an account at Impact and an application to the programme, and also at least one channel where you will place the links; the type of participant is usually Creator. There is no separate page with the terms on the site — they are inside the Impact account.

Earning on the broadcasts themselves

The tool's self-description names among the capabilities tipping and merch. Beyond that mention neither fees, nor thresholds, nor methods of withdrawal are described for these instruments.

What it will not do

Streamlabs does have confirmed refusals, and they are concrete ones.

The chat of TikTok, Instagram and Patreon is not supported in Multichat — these platforms are announced only as receivers of the broadcast. In Kick, X (Twitter) and personal Facebook profiles the chat is available for reading only: replying from there is not possible.

In the affiliate programme they will not pay for a free trial period, for a refund or for a chargeback — that is said outright. Nor will they pay for a purchase made later than twenty-four hours after the click: the attribution window is 24 hours. There will be no money either without the banking and tax sections filled in in the Impact account. A percentage of the subscription is not to be expected: the rates are fixed, 10 and 20 USD.

Pricing

The only paid subscription is Streamlabs Ultra: «Streamlabs Ultra is $27/month or discounted when billed annually at $189/year.» The yearly price of 189 USD a year is 15.75 USD a month; the monthly rate of 27 USD a month is almost twice as high

There are no plan tiers: Streamlabs has one paid level. Converting the yearly sum into a monthly one (189 / 12 = 15.75) is our arithmetic, not a quotation; the platform itself does not name the monthly equivalent of yearly billing. A monetary fact, shelf life 90 days.

There is a free level and it is broad, and Ultra is expressly called an optional extra: «Streamlabs Ultra is an entirely optional upgrade». Free of charge: «Streamlabs comes with everything you need to record video and live stream successfully for free, including live streaming software with dozens of widgets, built-in overlay themes and alerts, a tip page (we don't take a cut), and Cloudbot moderation tools.» Plus «over 300 free overlays, video editing tools, and merch store functionality»

The phrase about tips matters separately: «we don't take a cut» — the platform withholds no commission on tips. The list of free products is confirmed from the other side too — the answer about the consequences of cancelling a subscription lists the same free versions of Streamlabs Desktop, Mobile, Cross Clip, Video Editor, Podcast Editor and Web Suite.

You pay for a subscription to the account rather than for volume or for a team seat: one Ultra subscription is tied to a Streamlabs ID. The platform names neither a counter of streaming minutes, nor a counter of viewers, nor a charge for each further person in its description of the subscription. What the extra money buys is not volume but a set of features: configuring a tips page, access to more than 60 add-ons, taking part in sponsorship offers in the Streamlabs App Store, Streamlabs Console for Xbox and Talk Studio
