remove.bg
Tool · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.
Overview
remove.bg is a tool for removing the background from images. In the catalogue it stands apart: it is not a scheduler and not analytics but one narrow instrument for preparing pictures, one that embeds into other people's processes.
Programmatic access is arranged by an API key (API page). Entry through OAuth 2.0 exists, but it is issued on request ("get in touch"), not by self-service.
The interface language of the homepage is English; the site declares no hreflang and contains no language switcher. At the same time the pricing page may open in Russian or in German — the language depends not only on location but also on the client.
Which platforms it works with
With social networks the tool does not work directly. On the page of tools and integrations are named Zapier, Make, an extension for Photoshop and applications for Windows, Mac, Linux and Android; there is not a single social network there, and there is no separate page of integrations with social networks on the site either.
This should be read literally: the tool processes an image, and where it goes next is a question for whatever instrument remove.bg is connected to.
Pricing
The payment model is hybrid, and in the catalogue it is the only one of its kind: a subscription to credits and a one-off purchase of credits (pay as you go) coexist rather than replacing each other.
The plans from the pricing page: a one-off purchase — 3 credits for 3 EUR; Lite 8.10 EUR a month; Pro 35.10; Volume+ 80.10; the corporate option — from 100,000 images a year. The minimum subscription price is 8.10 EUR a month, or 97.20 EUR a year (the Lite plan). With annual payment the discount is 10%.
Credits a month: Lite — 40, Pro — 200, Volume+ — 500.
In the questions section on the page there is an item about unused subscription credits, but the answer — whether they expire or carry over — is not disclosed on the page itself, and the condition is a material one.
What is free
There is a free tier: basic features free and one trial credit for AI editing (pricing).
Something else matters more: the API and the integrations are included even in the free access. Among the tools of the catalogue this is met with rarely — usually programmatic access is assigned to the senior plans.
Restrictions
The rate limit is counted not in images but in megapixels, and that changes everything (API page). The norm is 500 megapixels a minute. From this a shot of 1 megapixel gives 500 images a minute, one of 25 megapixels — 20 of them, one of 50 megapixels — only 10. One and the same plan gives fiftyfold different throughput depending on the size of the input file.
On exceeding it the tool answers with code 429 and returns a waiting time (retry_after); no credit is debited in the process.
The maximum resolution of the output is 50 megapixels, but not for all formats: PNG has a ceiling of 10 megapixels, the full 50 are held by JPEG and WebP. Yet JPEG does not support transparency. Putting one together with the other: transparency and full size at once are given only by WebP.
How you earn with it
An affiliate programme is announced — the remove.bg Affiliate Program (programme page); the addresses /affiliate and /affiliates redirect to the same one.
The commission, in the wording of the page: "15% of the gross price" of each sale in US dollars, but no more than 100 USD per transaction. The accrual is recurring: the commission goes from subscription renewals too, for as long as the client remains subscribed. For the partner's account to remain active, you need to bring in at least one new paying client a year.
The lifetime of the click tag is 30 days. The minimum balance for a payout is 25 USD; an accrued commission is at first in pending status and is confirmed after 45 days. The payouts go only through PayPal, "All payments are made in USD", twice a month once the threshold is reached.
Forbidden are third-party advertising networks, pay-per-click advertising, coupon and discount sites, gambling sites and mailings without consent; disclosure of the advertising nature is obligatory.
What it will not do
Publish to social networks the tool will not, and it does not connect accounts: on the page of tools and integrations social networks are not named at all.
A transparent background at full resolution in PNG format cannot be had — PNG has a ceiling of 10 megapixels; for the full 50 there remains WebP, and JPEG does not support transparency.
Five hundred large shots a minute will not come out either: the limit is counted in megapixels, and on files of 50 megapixels that is ten images a minute.
An OAuth 2.0 key cannot be issued on your own — access is granted on request.
The text of the affiliate agreement cannot be got at from the programme page: the Affiliate Program Agreement is mentioned, but there is no separate link to the document.

Limits and restrictions
