PhotoRoom
Tool · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.
Overview
Photoroom is a tool for processing images. The self-description on the home page: "Create product and portrait pictures using only your phone. Remove background, change background and showcase products". That is the tool's own claim about itself, not an independent assessment.
Two things are visible from the wording. The work is conceived from a phone, not from a workplace, and the main subject is product and portrait shots: removing the background, changing the background, showing the product. Publishing to social networks is not in the self-description.
On the home page there is a link to documentation for developers — the API section opens and contains the marks of documentation. Here the documentation is genuine, not a guess from the word "api" in the address.
The interface language of the home page is en. A machine-readable index llms.txt is present on the site, the size of the file on the date of the check being 5,558 characters; that is our own measurement, not the tool's own claim.
Which platforms it works with
With none — in the sense in which that word is used in the catalogue.
The integrations page lists no social platforms at all. Named in it are Google Drive, Zapier, Model Context Protocol (MCP), Figma, Image Relay, Airtable, Wordpress, Make, Capture One, Pixelz and the Photoroom for Shopify App — storages, editors, automation tools and a marketplace, but not social networks. Connecting an account and publishing a post from Photoroom is not possible: there is nothing to connect.
Social platforms are nevertheless mentioned on the site, but in a different capacity — as the names of frame formats. On the home page these are "Resize for Instagram, Amazon, Shopify, and more" and "campaign-ready video for Reels, TikTok, and Stories". That is, it is a matter of the sizes and proportions of the finished image, not of connecting an account. The difference is material.
An indirect route to automatic publishing does exist all the same: Zapier, Make and MCP in the list of integrations are linking tools. But what exactly they connect Photoroom to the platforms with the source does not describe, and we will not assert it on its behalf.
Pricing
The names of the plans are known from the affiliate programme page, which lists which subscriptions a commission is paid for: Max, Ultra and Pro, with Max and Ultra in monthly and yearly form, and Pro only in the yearly one.
How much any of these plans costs, what is included in them and whether there is a plan cheaper than Pro the source does not say.
How you earn with it
An affiliate programme is announced: the Photoroom affiliate program, the accounting and the payouts going through the Awin network (programme page).
The rate is 20%: "Affiliates earn 20% commission on eligible Photoroom subscription plans, including monthly and yearly Max, and Ultra plans, plus the yearly Pro plan". The caveat about Pro is material: the monthly Pro is not in the list of subscriptions paid on.
Whether the accruals repeat the page does not say. All that is said is about the commission on a purchase of a subscription; renewals and subsequent payments by the customer are not described.
The lifetime of the click tag is 30 days ("Photoroom uses a 30-day cookie window").
The payouts go through Awin, but specific methods of withdrawing the money are not named on the page. A minimum sum for payout is not named either; the threshold, if there is one, is set on the network's side.
For participation an approved Awin account is needed, admission being by application through the network. The audience of the programme the tool describes like this: creators, e-commerce sellers, marketers, educators, agencies, photographers, social media managers. There is no public page with the terms: it is said that the program terms are given out through Awin after approval.
What it will not do
There are more confirmed refusals here than at most of the tools in the catalogue, and the chief of them is about platforms.
Publishing a post to a social network Photoroom will not help with: there is not a single social platform on the integrations page, while the mentions of Instagram, TikTok and Reels on the home page relate to frame sizes, not to connecting an account.
Earning on the monthly Pro plan in the affiliate programme will not work — it is expressly excluded from the list of subscriptions paid on. Taking the money past Awin will not work either: all the payouts go through the network, and without an approved account there participation is impossible. Reading the terms of the programme before submitting an application is not possible — there is no public page of terms.
