Skyrock

Platform · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.

Overview

Skyrock is a French radio station and its digital ecosystem. In social network registers the platform is usually listed as the Skyblog blogging platform: from 2002 skyrock.com hosted one of the largest networks of personal blogs in France. Today that service no longer exists on the platform. When we checked, the address https://www.skyrock.com/ returned a 302 and took us to skyrock.fm, and the address https://www.skyrock.com/blog/ redirected to the same place. No blogs section remains in the navigation.

What does remain is the radio station and the app. The site navigation lists radio stations, podcasts, video, news, "tracks played", games, concerts, the programme schedule, presenters, frequencies, apps and chat. The publisher is named in the user agreement: TELEFUN SAS, 332 276 880 RCS Paris. Separately there is an advertising arm — Skyrock Public, which describes itself as "the Skyrock group's commercial service": it, rather than a user platform, is what gives a business a way in today.

Who's here

Skyrock publishes figures in its commercial terms for advertising sales for 2026 and, importantly, names the owner of each measurement.

Skyrock publishes no figures for the site's own user base.

The geography and language are France and French: broadcast frequencies are listed on a separate page, while the agreement establishes that French law applies and the Judicial Court of Paris has sole competence.

Getting started

Registration is free and works in two stages. The agreement describes two types of personal account:

Age. The agreement sets no hard lower threshold but does lay down a procedure: minors under 15 are accepted for registration only on condition that they have obtained parental permission in advance and provided addresses to which messages can be sent to the parents; without such confirmation registration will be refused. A parent may demand the deletion of a child's account. It is separately noted that app stores may require an age higher than 15, and Skyrock is not responsible for that.

An account's lifetime is limited: a personal account is valid for one year (365 days) from the date the services were last used; once that period expires the account and the credentials are deleted. This matters: an unused account here is not "frozen" but disappears.

Chat works only with an app account: the sign-in page states that access to chat requires an account created in the Skyrock app.

What you can publish

There is not much to publish, and only in two places: messages to the broadcast and text in chat. The agreement defines "user content" as texts, illustrations, images, photographs, sounds, video and any other elements a user may post or make available through the services, but the list of the services themselves is limited to radio streaming, messages to the broadcast, chat (public and private), the playlist and competitions.

Rights. The user grants the publisher a royalty-free worldwide licence to technically distribute the posted content over any electronic communication networks, including the internet, for the entire period it is posted. A separate clause concerns advertising: in exchange for the services being free, the user permits advertising and promotional messages in the form of text, images, video or sound to be attached to their content. This permission can be revoked only by closing the account, and even then only for the future: advertising campaigns already launched are seen through to the end.

Prohibitions. The agreement names them outright: using an incorrect pseudonym; deriving benefit from any service or advantage and using the service for commercial or self-interested purposes; impersonating another person; appropriating the identity, titles and positions of another user or of a celebrity. As a separate clause: distorting the purpose of the services for propaganda and proselytising, and using chat for professional or commercial purposes — for finding clients, hook-ups and prostitution. For public discussions the platform reserves the right to bring in a moderator.

How to grow

Personal growth in "followers" no longer exists on the platform: there are no blog or feed mechanics, and chat is not suited to accumulating an audience. Growth here means media placement, and it is bought from the advertising arm.

Two purchasing modes. Skyrock Public describes them like this: "classic" buying is spot by spot, at the gross rate, with surcharges and discounts; it gives control over the context of the airing and is reserved for campaigns aimed at the 13–34 audience and for the music and entertainment sectors, but gives no guarantee on GRP cost. Skyrock Box is buying at a guaranteed net GRP cost, where the placement of the spots is decided by the service itself from the agency's brief; the mode is reserved for campaigns aimed at adult audiences and requires prior consent.

The figures that are named. The distribution charge is 32 euros net excluding VAT per message, with no commercial discounts. Gross rates are expressed on a 30-second base and by half-hours; the coefficients by spot duration are 0.5 for 5 seconds, 0.65 for 10, 0.81 for 15, 1 for 30 and 2.4 for 60 seconds. For 2026, 11 "CGV periods" are identified with indices from 90 to 180 depending on the expected load on the broadcast — for example, index 100 falls on 13 July to 23 August, and 180 on 16–29 November.

Modulations in Skyrock Box are applied in a cascade: +25% on GRP cost for preferred positions at the start and end of a block, +10% where the 06:00–09:00 morning prime is over-weighted, +10% for a plan covering the end of the week only, and −3% for combining a mandate.

Deadlines and on-air discipline. A media plan may not be returned earlier than 10 days before the start under classic buying, 5 days in Skyrock Box and 4 days for floating. A separate rule guards against overheating: with more than 12 airings of the same spot per day between 6:00 and 18:00, plans may be lightened. Advance booking is limited to one campaign per advertiser and 50% of available inventory, and cancellation or amendment entails an invoice for 50% of the net cost of the affected spots.

There are non-advertising formats too: a "host read" endorsed by the presenter live on air, 60-second slots between 9:00 and 12:00, and the Talent Talk and Question Directe programmes recorded in the Skyrock studio and distributed on YouTube. For corporate responsibility topics the platform promises +10% additional contacts and two isolated single-spot blocks in the morning show at 7:42 and 8:42, with booking at least 8 weeks in advance.

Path to monetization

The platform does not pay creators and, moreover, expressly forbids earning through the service. The agreement lists among prohibited actions deriving benefit from any service or advantage and using the service for commercial or self-interested purposes, and for chat the ban is spelled out separately.

There are no revenue-sharing programmes, donations, paid subscriptions or affiliate schemes for users on the pages we checked. The only party earning from the audience here is the publisher itself: the user permits advertising to be attached to their content in exchange for the services being free, and sales are handled by Skyrock Public — the commercial name of the legal entity TALIESIN, which also issues the invoices. With the closure of the blogging platform, the whole layer of opportunities for authors that went with it disappeared too.

Tools and automation

We found no official API for Skyrock: the pages we checked have no developer section, no documentation and no application registration form. What is more, the agreement expressly forbids accessing the services by any means other than the interface provided by the publisher, and gives the user a non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the services and the associated software on one compatible device.

The group's apps listed on the site are the Skyrock Radios app for iOS and Android and the Skred messenger; the advertising service operates at skyrock.pub.

We found no third-party scheduling services whose support for Skyrock is confirmed by a source — and that is to be expected: there is nothing to publish here.

Limits and rules

Who it's for

It suits advertisers working with the French youth and urban audience: the sales terms are published in full, with coefficients, a calendar of periods and rules for returning plans — a rare transparency for our handbook. It suits music projects and artists for whom airplay matters, and brands ready for integrations with presenters.

It does not suit an organic presence. You cannot run a page of your own here: the blogs are closed, what remains publishable is messages to the broadcast and text in chat, and commercial use of the service is forbidden by the agreement. It does not suit automation — there is no API, and access bypassing the publisher's interface is forbidden. It does not suit you if you were counting on finding an archive of old Skyblogs here: the blogs domain redirects to the radio site.

How the money works here

Commercial use of the platform is forbidden. The user is forbidden "de monnayer quelque service ou avantage que ce soit ou d’utiliser le Service à des fins commerciales et/ou lucrative" — "to take payment for any service or advantage whatsoever or to use the Service for commercial and/or profit-making purposes". Separately: "d’utiliser le Service de Chat à des fins professionnelles ou commerciales (prospection, racolage ou prostitution)" — a ban on using the chat for professional or commercial purposes, including the search for clients. A violation gives TELEFUN the right to exclude the user temporarily or definitively
