인스티즈 (Instiz)

Platform · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.

Overview

Instiz (인스티즈, "Instiz") is a Korean community built around show business and everyday life. The platform explains its own name and age like this: «Instiz is a community born in 2009 and devoted to the entertainment industry and everyday life; the name is the word instincts turned into a brand and made easier to pronounce. For short it is called "Inti"». The home page meta description promises: «much show business news starts here! Meet all the varied news on Instiz».

There are three sections: "Isyu" (news, humour, information), "Ilsang" (everyday conversation) and "Yeonye" (show business).

For marketing, Instiz is a platform with one of the harshest regimes in this guide. Promoting a third-party service is punished not with a warning but with permanent expulsion, and that applies «even if there was no intent to promote». Even entry to the platform costs money.

Who's here

Instiz publishes no numeric audience figures: no member count, no traffic and no breakdown by age or gender. The only available counters are views of individual posts; the notice about rights infringement showed 33,434,789 views on the check date. That is a cumulative number for one page, not a measure of audience.

The language and the legal framework are Korean: the platform states that «Instiz complies with the laws of the Republic of Korea and respects the rights of rights holders».

The infrastructure says something indirectly about scale: «on 13 February 2026 Instiz fully completed its migration from its own data centre infrastructure to AWS», with «frequent DDoS attacks and its own server failures» named as the reason; in the same place the platform speaks of "16 years" of operation.

The audience is a community of Korean show business fans: the rules are explicitly devoted to "deokjil" (덕질), devoted fandom.

Getting started

Registration is set up unusually: there is no open entry. The form offers three routes: whether you have an invitation number (with one, registration goes quickly); whether you work in the entertainment industry; and, if neither applies, either "check whether the registration window has opened (it opens occasionally, without warning)" or "buy an invitation number".

The price is named in the same place: 11,900 won, with no additional payments; you can pay from a mobile account, by card, by transfer, through PayPal (for overseas users only) or inside the official app.

There is no separate business account. There is only the branch for industry workers — and a corresponding item in the contact form: «a request to send and confirm an invitation number for an entertainment industry worker».

The first rule after registration looks strange, but it is the fundamental one: «a ban on friendly closeness between members (even if you know each other, act as though you do not)». The exceptions are your personal page and private messages, but even there you may not move the conversation outside (KakaoTalk, open chats, exchanging X accounts).

What you can publish

The formats are the usual ones: text, images, video, comments, private messages, a flea market and group purchases. Labelling is mandatory: [posts are placed by board topic or by performer, material of a "raised temperature" is flagged with markers, and the tags «[단독]» ("exclusive") and «[속보]» ("breaking") are allowed only for news agency reports. Forbidden are headlines unrelated to the content, circumventing the banned word list, distributing and requesting pornography, and the absence of a warning before off-putting content](https://www.instiz.net/popup_rule.htm?mode=1).

A separate item, a rare one for 2026: conversation using neural network replies is prohibited — «any communication that is not communication between humans is prohibited». And one more: changing, extracting and modifying Instiz elements is prohibited; the design, algorithms and operating system are declared the platform's copyright — the sanction is a six-month suspension.

How to grow

The rules on advertising

The key clause sits in the heaviest category — "forced expulsion (permanent block)": «promoting, advertising or selling a third-party service — if a post is written for the purpose of promoting or advertising a third-party service; selling outside the Instiz flea market; advertising referral recruitment and multi-level schemes; and also actions that directly or indirectly produce an advertising effect, even if there was no intent — when repeated two or more times (including when a post receives two or more comments suspecting advertising and no active explanation follows). Referral links are permitted if the identifier is not disclosed and both sides benefit».

What is punished is not only advertising but an "indirect advertising effect without intent"; the grounds for proceedings can be the suspicion of other members; the sanction is permanent expulsion.

The second clause shows why the rules are like this. A six-month suspension is due for mentioning the name of a plastic surgery clinic: «because of the excessive number of paid reviews and advertising posts, all of them are prohibited — questions, recommendations and reviews». The platform responded to the paid-review saga by banning the topic itself. The third clause matters to brands working with fandoms: in the show business section, posts with negative mentions are automatically flagged on members' complaints and removed from the popular listings, and the author may receive a penalty.

The upshot: organic marketing does not exist on Instiz as a permitted practice. One route remains — buying advertising directly from the platform.

How to buy advertising

Instiz publishes no rate card. In its place there is a contact form, in which the advertiser is asked to answer six questions in advance: the approximate placement schedule; the advertiser's name (which may be withheld at the first stage) or the type of product being promoted; the expected effect of the contract (for example, growth in app installs); the approximate minimum placement budget; questions about the advertising (page views, clicks, cost); and an email address for receiving a product presentation. The same list of contact topics includes an item for "partnership and advertising" and a separate item, "Foreigner", for people from abroad.

Discipline

The penalty scale is short and fully published: «a warning-remark (10 minutes), a warning (3 hours), a suspension (6 months), forced expulsion (permanent)»; a warning is deleted automatically after 30 days, but «everyone who supported or took part receives the same penalty».

Path to monetization

Instiz does not pay in money — it has internal points, and the platform warns straight away: «points are not real money and are used only inside Inti».

They are spent on lifting a restriction after a rule violation (for some penalties), paying to raise a member's level, and buying items in the shop; they are earned for posts and comments, but not for ones that are too short. Once a day, 0.3% of all your points is automatically deducted, rounded up.

The closest thing to earnings for an author is a subscription to their posts: in the "Geuljapdam" section, when an author sets a subscription fee they receive 70% of it on each subscription. The rules describe no way of converting points into money: there are no grounds for treating Instiz as an income channel for an author.

Tools and automation

Instiz offers no public programming interface: we found no developer documentation on the pages we checked, and the rules explicitly forbid extracting and modifying the platform's elements. We did not come across any third-party scheduling or analytics services with confirmed Instiz support either.

Reach is affected by a reader-side tool: filtering in the settings («you have the right not to see what you do not like»), where keyword filtering is available only to registered users. A reader can filter out your whole topic.

For companies, the takedown procedure matters: eight mandatory items are required, including the rights holder's real name and consent to bear legal responsibility; when material is taken down, the claimant's name and the reason for the demand are shown in place of the former headline, and if the author files an objection within 30 days the material is restored and its takedown may not be demanded again.

Limits and rules

Who it's for

It suits entertainment industry companies — film distributors, theatres, concert promoters: the platform itself runs promotions with tickets and invitations, and on the check date its announcements included giveaways of cinema tickets and invitations to plays (the announcements block on the rules page). It suits advertisers with a budget who are ready to work under a contract.

It does not suit any form of organic presence: you cannot create a brand account, reply to customers or leave a link — each of those actions falls under the ban on promoting a third-party service, with the sanction of "permanent expulsion". It does not suit agencies working with reviews: the clinic saga shows how the platform responds to such attempts. And it does not suit a quick test: registering here costs money.
